Last week, on September 6-7 2023, Fish2Fork team participated in EAI INTSYS 2023 Conference that took place in Molde, Norway. This conference is focused on the relevance of Intelligent Transport Systems, promoting the value of research in this area to make transport safer, more efficient, and more sustainable by applying information and communication technologies to all transportation modes.  Figure 1 - Day 1 (September 6, 2023) of EAI INTSYS Conference in Molde, Norway PhD researchers of Fish2Fork project - Ulpan Tokkozhina and Luis Elvas, together with Supervisor team Prof. Ana Lucia Martins and Prof. Joao Carlos Ferreira presented a total of 5 papers in EAI INTSYS 2023 Conference. Researcher Ulpan Tokkozhina (co-authored with Prof. Ana Lucia Martins and Prof. Joao Carlos Ferreira) once again highlighted their focus on disruptive technological solutions for fish supply chains, which resulted in a paper "Blockchain-powered fish industry: trust perceptions of final consumers on t

Workshop on data analytics application for smart cities - Nightlife Advisor

Image
Yesterday, on June 1st, 2023, Fish2Fork organized a workshop, where Master and PhD students were able to share their research results. A group of Master students, including Antonio Neves, Francisco Pereira, Jaime Ribeiro, Ricardo Fiarresga and Tomas Schustakowitz shared the results of their research about the Nightlife Advisor application, which was based on data analytics of population density at nights in Lisbon based on different areas.  Figures 1- 2 - Master students Antonio Neves, Francisco Pereira, Jaime Ribeiro, Ricardo Fiarresga and Tomas Schustakowitz presenting their research The following presentation was done by a PhD researcher that takes part in Fish2Fork project - Ulpan Tokkozhina. She shared her findings about multi-tier supply chain of frozen fish products and how does Blockchain contribute with the traceability and access to the transparent information on product.    Figure 3 - PhD student Ulpan Tokkozhina presenting her research The event was followed by a networking

Fish2Fork participates at the ETHPorto conference

Image
Fish2Fork took part in ETHPorto ( March 16-18, 2023 ) - an independently organized event on Web3 with a Conference, Workshops and Hackathon running in parallel. This event brought together Web3 enthusiast, companies and start-ups, where Fish2Fork was able to spread awareness about blockchain technology applications to fish supply chain networks.    Figure 1 - PhD researcher Ulpan Tokkozhina presenting Fish2Fork and introducing the team The two day c onference (March 16-17, 2023) had a broad spectrum of speakers from different companies and projects, involved in various fields - from agriculture and fishery to public goods and decentralize science. Figures 2 and 3- ETHPorto event venue at Hardclub Porto (March 16, 2023) Fish2Fork participation at the conference was highlighted by the presentation of a PhD researcher Ulpan Tokkozhina, it took place on March 17th, during the afternoon. Ulpan presented one of the ongoing research that is focused on a frozen fish supply chain that is pilot

Workshop about Internet of Things applications by Prof. Augusto Casaca

Image
On March 9th, 2023 Fish2Fork together with IEEE Student Branch of Iscte-IUL held another workshop about disruptive technology application. This time the workshop was about Internet of Things (IoT) applications and was lectured by Professor Augusto Casaca.  Figure 1 - Workshop about IoT applications lectured by Prof. Augusto Casaca (March 9th, 2023) Under the scope of Fish2Fork project, disruptive technologies are investigated for their potential application to fishing industry in order to bring efficiency and transparency. Like this, for accurate monitoring and tracking of caught and processed fish, IoT devices and sensors can be applied. IoT devices in such case will ensure the updated information about storage conditions (e.g. temperature and transportation status) of fish products throughout the locomotion.    Figure 2 - Workshop about IoT applications lectured by Prof. Augusto Casaca (March 9th, 2023) This workshop had a duration of 3 hours, where attendees were able to learn more

Workshop with Portuguese companies about AI applications

Image
Yesterday, on March 7th, 2023 Fish2Fork together with IEEE Student Branch of Iscte-IUL held a workshop with Portuguese companies about the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) in business context.   Figure 1 - Workshop with Portuguese companies about AI applications at INDEG-Iscte (March 7th, 2023) AI together with disruptive technologies like Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality and other Industry 4.0 technologies has a potential to disrupt usual business practices and bring efficiency to operations.  Figure 2 - Virtual reality experience at the workshop (March 7th, 2023) Not only participants of the workshop had an opportunity to network and discuss the AI potential for Portuguese businesses, but they also had an opportunity to have a virtual reality device experience, which also has a lot of potential in such angles of business, as for example, retailing experiences of customers.  Figure 3 - Networking at the workshop with Portuguese companies about AI application

On 15-16 of December 2022 an International conference INTSYS 2022 organized by European Alliance for Innovation took place in Lisbon, Portugal. This conference is focused on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) that are aiming to make transport safer, more efficient, and more sustainable by applying information and communication technologies to all transportation modes.       Figure 1 - INTSYS 2022 conference first technical session on December 15, 2022  Researchers from the project PT-INNOVATION-0069-Fish2Fork also participated in a conference and presented research titled "Traceable distribution of fish products: state of the art of blockchain technology applications to fish supply chains". This research was authored by Ulpan Tokkozhina, Ana Lucia Martins, Joao C.Ferreira and Augusto Casaca. Ulpan Tokkozhina made a presentation of this paper during the second technical session during afternoon of December 15th, 2022.  Figure 2 - Ulpan Tokkozhina presenting "Traceable

Fish2Fork project seeks to promote the development and sharing of competences within the fish sector, at all stages of the process, from production to supply. In this sense, it was sought that the Portuguese researchers had access to a Norwegian technology company focused on aquaculture. The company selected was Flatsetsund, located in Kristiansund, an innovative engineering company that has been working with the main national fishfarms in recent years.      The researchers were received by the company's CEO and former engineer, Lars Georg Backer, who provided a guided tour of the facilities and presented the main projects they were currently developing.  Figure 1 - Visit to Flatsetsund. Lars Georg Backer speaking      Their main concerns were plagues and their combat (and anticipation), thus the disinfestation mechanisms have improved over the years, and the process of its latest product was explained in detail: how the fish is extracted in fishfarms at sea, the disinfestatio
